About Brittany Miles
Brittany J. Miles is currently a 2nd grade Teacher in Tampa, Fl. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts from the University of North Florida in 2013. She began her teaching career in January
2017 and her life has never been better. Brittany’s teaching philosophy is simple: “Students don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Throughout her career, she has been rated as a highly effective
teacher every year. She was recognized by Hillsborough County School Board Member, April Griffin, for the astounding classroom managed skills she demonstrated and was asked to develop classroom management trainings that her colleagues could attend. Brittany was chosen to represent the school in its science department, serving as a Science Contact for the 2017-
2018 school year.
As a teacher, Brittany has learned the importance of the holistic well-being of a student and how it relates to the overall success of the child. Recognizing the need for mindfulness for students
in the inner city, it prompted her to create “Beemindfull”. Beemindfull is a program that provides guided mindfulness practices and affirmations for the everyday struggles and negative emotions
students face throughout their day. She noticed how implementing mindfulness within her classroom positively impacted her students' grades and social interactions with each other. After establishing this culture within her classroom, she was recognized for creating a mindfulness room for her colleagues to regroup after a long day of teaching. Outside of teaching, Brittany loves to read, sing, and enjoy nature. She’s an advocate for inner city children and wholeheartedly believes that if we start with the heart and mind, the world
would be a better place.
